Your reception and waiting area are the main focus for your patients – it’s the only time they sit and actually look around. It is this impression that lasts.
Does your reception and waiting area reflect the demographic of your patients? Does it portray who you are?

Functionally, there is lost to consider such as:

  • How many people will be at reception at the one time?
  • Does it double as your last discussion point with your patient?
  • What about acoustics transferring to your waiting area?
  • Printers and types of printers – should you use the same one for your letters and your receipts?
  • Cash draw location
  • How many HiCaps machines will you need and what are the data requirements for your PC’s, HiCaps, Phone Systems, entertainment modules, printers, air purifier!

 Sometimes our computer graphics simulation can fool you into thinking it is the real picture – sometimes not quite! What it provides you is a really good understanding of what you are going to get, with the materials selected, prior to committing to this part of the project.

This update of a reception area entailed closing off the reception and waiting area from the rest of the practice in order to reduce sound transmission.

A detailed plan was put together as this desk had multiple components – the work side including data, cash drawer, multiple printers and computers as well as HiCaps etc.  The patient facing side has a drop down desk for patients who prefer to sit and pay accounts as well as swivel screens so that it can double as a post-treatment consult area or area to allow patients to complete private paperwork (e.g. financial plans etc).

Again this was an update of an existing reception area.  We had already done a total internal rebuilding of this practice including removal of walls and adding new rooms.  

The look and feel of the practice changed from a practice set in a converted house to a professional looking practice with clear divisions between patient/public areas, staff areas and surgical areas.

Updating the reception area completed the total transition of this practice.
